About

Retaining walls built for Illawarra ground.

Escarpment Retaining Co is a Wollongong retaining wall business. Walls, excavation and drainage — that's the work we do.

How we approach a job

We start with the ground, not the product. What the wall is retaining, how high it is, what sits above and behind it, and where the water goes — that's what decides the material and the build, not the other way around.

It also means we'll sometimes tell you a job is bigger than you were hoping, or that a repair won't hold. We'd rather have that conversation at quote stage than after the wall moves again.

Working in Wollongong

Wollongong sits between the Illawarra Escarpment and the coast. A lot of the residential land here slopes, and plenty of established blocks have retaining that was built decades ago to standards and drainage expectations that have moved on since.

Wet seasons here are genuinely wet. Drainage isn't an optional line item on an Illawarra retaining wall.

Straight answers

We're a retaining wall builder, not a directory or a referral service. When you call, you're talking to the people who'd be doing the work. If a wall needs engineering or an approval pathway, we'll tell you that early rather than pretending every wall is the same.

Acknowledgement of Country

Wollongong and the wider Illawarra are on Dharawal Country. We acknowledge the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of this land and its waters, and their continuing connection to the escarpment, the country below it and the coast. We pay respect to Elders past and present.

Send through a couple of photos and we'll get a better idea of the site.

Call us, or use the quote form. Photos of the wall, the ground behind it and the access tell us more than a description ever will.
